In situ casted single cell box girder is fit for span length from 40m to 270m.
The box girders
are able to suit for curvy deck and other complex roadway geometry, granting
them high aesthetic value.
For bridge span
within 70m, constant depth section giving span-to-depth ratio of 20:1 is often
used.
For long span
bridge, haunched profile is adopted, where the span-to-depth ratio near pier is
16:1, and it changes to 45:1 at the mid-span.
The width of box
girder usually varies from 6m to 16m, while the side cantilevers at the top of
section are usually of 2m to 3.5m length.
